Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles made WNBA history on July 13 against the Phoenix Mercury.Miles became the fastest player to get 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists. As of this writing, Miles has 426 points, 104 rebounds and 125 assists in her first 22 WNBA games. She’s averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 50.5% from the field, 36.1% from beyond the arc and 88.1% from the free-throw line.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”She is the first player in [WNBA] history — not the first rookie — the first player in [WNBA] history to get 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists in 22 games,” Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said. “And so I want you to digest that and think about that. There have been tremendous players in this league. And so again, this is not as compared to other rookies. I just can’t say enough. I know what her impact on her team has been. The magnitude of it shouldn’t be understated.”Miles was named a WNBA All-Star starter as a rookie. That’s how special she is.The Lynx are 18-6. They have the top record in the league, which is impressive considering Napheesa Collier hasn’t played yet.The 23-year-old Miles is 10th in the WNBA in points per game, eighth in total points, ninth in assists per game and eighth in total assists. The fact that she’s already a star as a rookie is a scary sight for the rest of the league because this is the WORST Miles is going to be.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementShe’s only going to get better and better as the years go on.”[Miles] is doing this and shouldering so much — basically the entire team,” Reeve said. “The success of the team is on her shoulders and that is impressive how she’s handled it.”The Dallas Wings took Azzi Fudd with the first overall pick in this year’s draft, but all signs point toward Miles winning the 2026 Rookie of the Year Award. The TCU product makes the game look effortless.”I was talking to [McBride] and she was telling me we need to get the crowd involved. I was like, ‘OK, so hit a 3-pointer for me.’ And then after that we literally just traded 3s,” Miles said. “And so we know when the energy flips in our favor, Target Center shows up and they give us, obviously, loud crowd pops and a lot of energy and momentum that helps us get over that hump.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMinnesota is back in action on July 15 against the Los Angeles Sparks.WNBA Roundtable also offers a fan community and message board.
