He compared the World Cup experience to the joy he hoped to give fans whenever they had the opportunity to watch him run with the football.“Sports gives people the opportunity to have an everlasting memory,” Smith said. “Anytime we were on the road, we wanted to make the visiting stadium our home stadium and the best way to do that is through performance.”From barbecue to Buc-ee’s, wide-eyed travelers have embraced North Texas and its uniqueness. It’s a clear indication that we can all get better about learning from each other.”He also attended Spain’s 1-0 win in the quarterfinals over Portugal, the final World Cup match for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.“I was in the stadium when [Ronaldo] played his last game [for Portugal] and I can feel that myself,” Smith said. “I feel the pain of walking away from a sport that you’ve been playing since you were a little kid.
