YouTube Gold: Chris Webber’s Championship Window Peaked In High School, And He’s Never Gotten Over It

By admin — In News — July 15, 2026

In this interview with Rich Eisen, Chris Webber is asked if a New York Times story about hating Duke is going out of style, Webber says definitely not.He says some nice things about Grant Hill, whom he interviewed soon after this on his own podcast, but then makes the argument for Duke hating never going out of style.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe funny part about this is that nearly 35 years after going 0-3 against Hill, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, and the other Blue Devils of 1991 through 1992, Webber is still thinking about losing. And there’s a reason why Webber and the not-so-Fab Five failed: Michigan took shortcuts. The staff took shortcuts in recruiting, and the players took shortcuts in their training. While they were playing icons, Duke players were getting up early and running, then playing ball, doing drills, and lifting weights. When the Fab Five is brought up to those Duke players, you still hear the disdain, the sense that those guys were willing to cut corners, when Duke was not. That’s the difference, and the result is that guys like Webber are focused on failure. And when you think about it, that’s a heck of a legacy for both sides.Go to the DBR Boards to find Blue Healer Auctions || Drop us a line
