‘This is what she really is’: Caitlin Clark criticism mounts as old video surfaces

During Sunday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces, Caitlin Clark helped lead the Fever to a blowout victory, but she did not escape controversy. In the second quarter of the game, Clark was caught flopping as she tried to draw a foul against her opponent after she was whistled for a foul herself. The incident sparked outrage from the WNBA community, and a resurfaced video is now adding to that criticism.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDuring the second quarter of Sunday’s game, Clark was defending Aces guard Chelsea Gray as she drove to the basket. As Gray drove to the rim, she made contact with Clark a few times, but the contact was far from excessive or extreme.Eventually, Gray shot a fadeaway jumper, and Clark was whistled for a foul after she hit Gray on the arm. However, immediately after the whistle, Clark collapsed to the ground as if she were in pain.Given Clark’s reaction, the referees reviewed the play for a potential hostile act. However, as the replay clearly shows, there was no excessive contact, and Clark was simply acting to try to draw a foul.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile Clark received some widespread criticism for what appeared to be a clear flop in Sunday’s game, a resurfaced video shows that this is not the only time that she has been at the center of an incident like this. After Sunday’s incident, a video from her college career at Iowa resurfaced, where Clark appeared to do the same thing she did on Sunday, hunching over and apparently trying to draw a foul well after the play concluded.Needless to say, the surfacing of the old video quickly led to a lot of reactions on social media as basketball fans were quick to criticize her.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“Someone needs to get this girl some help. Like seriously no jokes. This is starting to remind me of a child prodigy that develops some complex due to expectations so they never mature properly and it manifests in adulthood. Like Michael Jackson,” one fan wrote in a post on X.“‘She took a shot to the chest’ if she can’t handle getting hit by another player’s shoulder or face during a normal basketball play, she needs to get in the weight room. Idk what to tell y’all!!!!!!” someone else added.“She plays Karen hoops,” another fan wrote.“Tale as old as time. We all know the script,” someone else said.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“Her flop mixtape gon be better than lebrons when it’s all said and done,” another fan wrote.“This is what she really is,” someone else added.“She will NEVER have a fan in me,” another fan commented.Clearly, Clark’s antics have ruffled some feathers, and it’s nothing new.The post ‘This is what she really is’: Caitlin Clark criticism mounts as old video surfaces appeared first on The Comeback: Today’s Top Sports Stories & Reactions.
