Falcons players who need a great training camp

Rookies will report to training camp for the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, July 24th, followed by vets on Tuesday the 28th. This first camp under head coach Kevin Stefanski will be critical in shaping the team’s initial 53-man roster for the coming 2026 NFL season. Here are three players who may need a great camp in order to keep their spot on the roster when it gets trimmed down at the end of August.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAt running back Atlanta is as blessed as any team in the NFL, with superstar Bijan Robinson the headliner who will take up a lot of oxygen at this position. Incoming backup Brian Robinson Jr. should come in when Bijan needs a breather, but the rest of the depth chart is up for grabs. Jones was primarily a pass-catching back during his time at Georgia, and he will need to flash in this department if he’s going to beat out Nathan Carter and Tyler Goodson for the third-string running back spot. The Falcons have made a lot of changes to their offensive tackle unit this offseason. Jake Matthews remains locked in at left tackle, but Kaleb McGary is out and Jawaan Taylor and Wanya Morris are in. That doesn’t leave much room for the other tackles trying to make the roster. Seventh-rounder Ethan Onianwa will have to impress more than undrafted rookie Riley Mahlman and veterans Mike Jerrell and Jack Nelson.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAtlanta’s edge rotation is also in flux. James Pearce could be suspended for a big chunk of the season, leaving Jalon Walker to start on one side and a bunch of questions marks on the other. The Falcons signed four new outside linebackers in free agency, making for a crowded picture at this position. Meanwhile, 2024 third-round pick Bralen Trice still hasn’t seen the field yet due to injuries – and is running out of time to make a positive impression. This article originally appeared on Falcons Wire: Falcons players who need a great training camp
