As preseason camp begins this week, Land-Grant Holy Land is diving into its final theme every week of the off-season. This week is all about identifying one specific thing sure to make a difference for the Buckeyes this fall. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”The One Thing” articles here.Jeremiah Smith’s last regular season game in Ohio Stadium as a Buckeye will be in The Game on Saturday, Nov. 28.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSmith is, barring something completely unforeseen, going to enter the NFL Draft after this season and be a high draft pick in April of 2027. Therefore, this season will likely be his last in Scarlet and Gray. The last time the greatest receiver in the Buckeyes’ history will take the field in The Shoe — barring a home CFP game — will be when the Buckeyes host Michigan. For as complex a game as football is, it can be simplified this way: get the ball into your playmakers’ hands. Jeremiah Smith is the Buckeyes’ best playmaker, by far. He’s the best playmaker in the country. Therefore, that leads to the one thing the Buckeyes need to do if they’re going to beat Michigan at home for the first time since 2018: let Smith COOK.Get Smith the ball all game. Underwood is going to take the field already trailing. That’s going to force Michigan to have to throw the ball more than they want to, meaning the Buckeyes can pin their ears back… at home.Make Underwood and Michigan have to throw the ball.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMichigan has played from ahead in both of their last two games in The Shoe. They took the crowd out of the game. That can’t happen again this season. It’s on the Buckeyes to play their game and not worry about matching Michigan’s physicality and ground game. Beat it by unleashing an aerial attack that takes away Michigan’s game plan and formula for winning.By getting the ball to Smith early and often and spreading Michigan’s defense out, the Buckeyes will put them on their heels early. They can go for big plays early or hold the ball for long drives. The Buckeyes’ offense can use Smith on
