FSU is playing the long game with key defensive line target

By admin — In News — July 15, 2026

Florida State is one of the four finalists for 2027 four-star defensive lineman Karlos May. They’re battling the Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, and Auburn Tigers for his commitment. He’s set to make his decision on Saturday. The favorite going into the decision is Ohio State. FSU’s strategy won’t end if May goes elsewhere, which is likely the case. According to Brendan Sonnone of Noles247, the Seminoles are prepared to show and prove on the field and circle back on May after a successful 2026 campaign.Speaking of proof of concept, FSU will have to perform well on the field this season to have a shot at circling back around here. …FSU made an aggressive play at May from a financial standpoint. The staff has maintained contact with him even with the acceptance that the Seminoles are running third or even fourth here. …Like Auburn, FSU is likely playing the long game at this point. It’s been a disappointing two years for Florida State since going 13-0 before a College Football Playoff snub in 2023. They’ve only won seven games since then, and that’s why a player like May and other blue-chip prospects want to see more from the Seminoles before feeling comfortable about making a commitment. They only have themselves to blame here.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFSU will need its staff to continue its persistence after May’s decision. Relationships matter, and if Florida State can keep theirs strong with May and produce on the field, it will put them in a better position to take another swing at him at season’s end.Contact/Follow us @FSUWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Florida State news, notes and opinions.
