Warriors’ Steph Curry, Draymond Green free agency recruiting pitch could lure LeBron James

As the 2026 version of LeBron James’ decision rolls on, there are similarities and differences to the future Hall-of-Famer’s free agency when compared to previous years. Some members of the media appear deadset on James returning home to the Cleveland Cavaliers for what will likely be his final NBA season. However, others view either the Miami Heat or Golden State Warriors as the likely landing spots. And in one other unique piece of this round of free agency for James, there is also a dark horse or two in the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. While the Cavaliers have remained atop the likely landing spots in terms of the odds, it’s been the Warriors who have surged in the past week or so. First, it was Draymond Green discussing his pitch to James. Then, on Wednesday morning, Steph Curry made a public pitch to James while on Good Morning America.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”The Bay, we know how to win, beautiful weather, great golf,” Curry said. “…We just know how to play basketball, and I think that he would enjoy just the idea of what it means to finish your career the right way.”Curry jokingly said that he “came here to break some news” after the hosts asked if he had heard anything back from LeBron, before dropping a “just kidding” on them. While James and agent Rich Paul haven’t tipped anyone off as to whether the former Los Angeles Lakers’ star is leaning in one specific direction with his decision, there’s no denying that the combination of Curry and Green pitching him is a major mark in the Warriors’ favor.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhen ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported that Paul was accepting voice notes from interested teams to pass along to James, it leveled the playing field for most. However, one exception to that is the Warriors, as both Curry and Green have a close relationship with LeBron. That was apparent when Green admitted he was able to pitch James on the Warriors, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if one of the calls James accepted was from Steph. It remains anyone’s guess where James will end up for the 2026-27 surge, but the Warriors’ surge is real, and no one would be shocked if he landed there for next season. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Warriors’ Steph Curry, Draymond Green free agency recruiting pitch could lure LeBron James
