Panthers QB abruptly retires on Wednesday

   ​A Carolina Panthers quarterback has called it quits.As officially announced on Wednesday afternoon, the team has placed Will Grier on the reserve/retired list. The 31-year-old began his NFL career as a third-round pick of the Panthers back in 2019, and rejoined the organization out of free agency earlier this offseason.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementGrier, a Davidson, N.C. native and Davidson Day School product, started in two games during his rookie campaign in Carolina—completing 28 of his 52 throws for 228 yards and four interceptions in a pair of losses.
