The Sooners continue to stay hot in the offseason as Jason Walk and Dasan Harris will be returning for the 2027 college baseball season. The Sooners received the news at the conclusion of the 2026 Major League Baseball draft when Walk and Harris were not selected. They will both be huge contributors to an offense that lost a majority of its lineup to the MLB draft this summer. Oklahoma also returns Kyle Branch who will be coming into 2027 as a junior.Dasan Harris comes in as arguably the bigger surprise out of the two returning starters. Harris led the Sooners in batting average at .361 and made the College World Series All-Tournament Team. His best moments came in the postseason. Three of his six home runs came in the NCAA Tournament and he tied the team in RBIs with 18 during the tournament stretch. Five of his 18 RBIs came in the 11-4 semifinal win over the Georgia Bulldogs, where he went 2-for-5 with two homeruns, two runs scored and a career-high five RBIs. His other huge performance came in the 13-2 super regional win over Kansas to send the Sooners to the world series. He went 2-for-5 with one homer, two runs scored and three RBIs. The senior outfielder could be the guy who sparks Oklahoma’s new-look batting lineup.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJason Walk will also be a senior in 2027. He was named to the College World Series All-Tournament Team and the SEC All-Defensive Team. Along with a national championship trophy, he also finished the season with a 23-game streak of reaching base and a 15-game hitting streak. He also stole base 19 out of his 24 attempts with five of those being in the world series in five attempts. Walk’s first career multi-home run game was against Georgia in the semifinals, where he went 2-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored and two RBIs.With Branch, Harris and Walk returning, the Sooners bring veteran leadership to the roster and gives head coach Skip Johnson some more breathing room. The pitching room will look solid as well with Cord Rager, Xander Mercurius and Nick Wesloski all returning to Oklahoma for the 2027 season.
