It’s an exciting time for the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least according to many players on the roster. I always felt that the Steelers, at least going into next season, have more questions than ever. They have another year of an aging Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin is no longer the coach with Mike McCarthy taking over, and there are some other questions about the franchise’s future, frankly. However, we also have to give some credit to what the Steelers have done in the offseason, making some impressive moves. The one I was most impressed with was the addition of Michael Pittman, and it sounds like that’s a similar feeling around Pittsburgh.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith him, DK Metcalf, and some other impressive offensive weapons, the Steelers suddenly feel very good at the wide receiver position, something that hasn’t been said over the past few years.”DK [Metcalf] has been great,” Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. said during OTAs in May. “I think me and him are going to do well and like obviously if teams are going to double-team him, then that’s going to leave me free. If they’re going to double-team me, it’s going to leave him free. So it’s going to be great. And then we got Germ [Germie Bernard] and Rome [Roman Wilson], too. We’re not shorthanded on pass catchers.””We’re really excited about Pitt, just like we are with all our receivers,” Steelers offensive coordinator Brian Angelichio said in April. “He’ll be a great complement for DK, certainly a great complement for the tight ends and the runners, opens up holes. Just gives us another big-body guy that’s got really good hands and has done a really good job of moving the chains in this league.”I’m curious to see how Pittman looks this year after playing very well for the Indianapolis Colts over the past few years. I don’t want to put a label on him and say that he has a chance to be a WR1 here, as that role is certainly going to Metcalf. However, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Pittman have a 1,000-plus-yard season and be Rodgers’ go-to guy.
