Rockets’ Tari Eason Fires Back At Critics After $81.5 Million Extension: You Can’t Walk A Mile In My Shoes

By admin — In News — July 16, 2026

Less than two weeks ago, Tari Eason agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million contract extension that keeps him in Houston until the end of the 2030-2031 season. While he was expected to be a part of the Rockets’ core, a lot of critics were not happy with the valuation of the extension. They seemed to have flooded social media with criticism of his game and urged the Rockets to trade him. The 25-year-old apparently saw these claims and took to social media, firing back at all the critics who have flooded social media over the last 10 days since agreeing to the deal.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“So many opinions on my game, y’all… I swear to god, you couldn’t walk a mile in my shoes.💯 Y’all can’t even be great at the lil things at your own respective jobs😭. Only no one cares what y’all do🤷🏾‍♂️,” wrote Eason on X.Even his mother, Teroya Eason, did not hold back as she began hurling profanity at the social media critics.“Let me get this straight. You get online with your thumbs, call a man all kinds of s–t. Say he has intellectual disabilities. Send death threats. Attack his mom. Proclaim him useless in a job only 5000 men in history have held. And when he gets online and responds, you’re a ‘fan,’ a victim, and he’s a soft p—-y?! 🤣”“There are so many kites out there. I really need some of you to go fly them. NOW! I don’t care what kind of mom jokes you’ve got. I’ve been on Twitter for 20 years. You’d better go talk to a TikTok mom. This is my app. And you raggedy mfs are NOT fans.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“I have NEVER talked about my team or players like this. I love the fans. The rest of you miserable mfs in fan clothing. F–k you. Disrespectfully,” she wrote on X after her son received backlash for his comments.Eason was a restricted free agent this summer, but was also on the list of players that teams like the Lakers were keeping an eye on. He was reportedly offered a $100 million contract last summer but rejected it to earn more money through the season. He ended the 2025-26 season averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 41.6% from the field and 35.8% from beyond the arc.The 25-year-old faced one of the worst three-point shooting slumps of his career in the second half of the season. But recency bias makes a lot of fans forget about the stellar first half of the season he had, where he was one of the best three-point shooters in the league.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMoreover, the versatile forward is a defensive menace who can outhustle almost anyone for rebounds.I feel that fans are being too harsh on Eason; they should now give him the chance to play without the sword of an uncertain future hanging over his head. I can almost assure you he will have a better season in 2026-27 for the Rockets than he did in 2025-26, barring any major injuries.
