One of the biggest weaknesses on the Los Angeles Rams’ top-flight roster heading into the 2026 draft was at wide receiver. They didn’t address it, really, other than taking CJ Daniels in the sixth round. That leaves Puka Nacua and Davante Adams locked in as one of the NFL’s top receiver duos, but a No. 3 spot behind them remains open. One analyst believes Los Angeles could address that need on the trade market before the 2026 season. Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggested the Rams part with a late-round 2027 pick to acquire a young slot receiver who may be squeezed out of his current situation: New England Patriots’ DeMario Douglas.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAlthough Nacua and Adams frequently shift inside the formation, the offense could fit in a primary slot receiver.Los Angeles may be able to acquire Douglas in exchange for a late 2027 draft pick. He saw a drop-off in his receiving numbers last season, and the Patriots added wideouts A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs this offseason. If New England doesn’t trade Kayshon Boutte, Douglas could be on the move. As a result, Los Angeles can pounce on an opportunity to bring in a 25-year-old wideout with a solid resume.Douglas has 146 receptions for 1,629 yards and six touchdowns since entering the league, giving him a proven track record working out of the slot even as his role fluctuated in New England last season. For the Rams, adding a true slot option would let Nacua and Adams settle into more consistent alignments rather than bouncing inside to cover for a thin room behind them. Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield are there, too, but Douglas is a more experienced pass-catcher than both. The deal, too, would be a low-cost swing for a player still just 25 years old, and could contribute immediately.Nothing suggests talks between the Rams and Patriots are underway, and Moton’s proposal is purely speculative at this stage. But if New England continues reshuffling its receiver room this offseason, a lightly used young slot target could become available for a modest price — exactly the kind of value swing the Rams have shown a willingness to make.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThis article originally appeared on Rams Wire: Analyst floats Rams trading late 2027 pick for young slot WR
