PFF ranks J.K. Dobbins 5th-worst among NFL’s starting running backs

Earlier this month, Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus ranked all 32 projected starting running backs across the NFL. Bijan Robinson (Atlanta Falcons) was ranked No. 1 and Jadarian Price (Seattle Seahawks) was ranked No. 32.Wasserman and Chadwick clearly don’t have much confidence in Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins, ranking him 28th, fifth-worst in the league going into the 2026 campaign. This was their commentary on that ranking:The story of Dobbins’ career has been both unfortunate and consistent: Productive play stunted by injuries. That was the case again in 2025, when he averaged 5.0 yards per carry and ranked 18th among qualified running backs with an 80.8 PFF rushing grade. However, he suffered a season-ending foot injury in Week 10, which severely hampered the Broncos’ run game from that point forward. Despite that, Denver handed Dobbins a fresh two-year contract, displaying its belief in his efficiency when healthy.PFF’s ranking seems harsh even when you account for injuries. Despite missing seven games last fall, Dobbins ranked 25th with 772 rushing yards, and his 5.0 yards per carry average ranked seventh among qualified running backs. Dobbins will surely rank higher on PFF’s list in 2027 if he can stay on the field this fall, but that is, admittedly, a big ask based on the running back’s injury history.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFormer Broncos running back Javonte Williams, who now plays for the Dallas Cowboys, is ranked No. 16.
