Canada captain Alphonso Davies returned to Bayern Munich training on Thursday from the disappointment of hardly playing the World Cup.Left back Davies had an individual unit ahead of Monday’s official start of pre-season training at the Bundesliga champions, joining Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl who had missed the World Cup due to injuries.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDavies suffered a thigh muscle injury in early May and featured only a few minutes in Canada’s last 32 match against South Africa at the World Cup. The co-hosts went out in the next game against Morocco. He spoke of “one of the toughest challenges of my career” afterwards and said that “I wasn’t able to perform at the level I know I’m capable of.”It hurts knowing I couldn’t give my all when my team and my country needed it most,” he said.Davies had missed most of last year with a cruciate knee ligament tear and was then also stopped by muscle injuries.Due to his injury problems Bayern have now signed a new left back in German international Nathaniel Brown who could limit Davies’ playing time in the new season. There has also been speculation that Bayern may let Davies go.
