‘She kills her team’: Caitlin Clark criticism mounts as she continues to struggle

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is back from an injury that caused her to miss time last month. Unfortunately, she has not exactly performed well after her return to the court. In fact, she’s in the midst of one of the worst shooting funks of her career. While Clark has always been a prolific shooter going back to the college level, where she made more three-pointers than any player in NCAA Division I history, she has struggled at times this season, and she’s in the midst of a brutal stretch right now.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAt the beginning of the season, Clark struggled mightily from beyond the three-point arc, going just 3-for-16 from three-point range over the first two games of the season before she eventually caught fire in the fourth quarter of the third game of the season. Now, Clark is in the midst of an even worse stretch.Clark has played three games in July since returning from her injury. In those three games, she has gone 1-for-6, 1-for-5, and 1-for-8 from beyond the three-point line, good for just 15.8% from three-point range. It’s worth noting, however, that this is actually not even the worst shooting stretch of Clark’s career. Last season, Clark made some unfortunate WNBA history with the lowest three-point shooting percentage over a five-game stretch in league history.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNeedless to say, Clark’s three-point shooting struggles have led to a lot of criticism from fans.“And this is the other side of the ‘face’ and ‘league hiding its star’ narratives. What good does it do the WNBA in the long run to act like there’s only one star in the league, when she’s performing like *this*?” someone else added.“And they are wanna know why she’s ranked the 11th best guard in the WNBA,” another fan wrote.“This is why the wnba doesn’t push her as the face of the league btw. Imagine a non watcher hearing this is the greatest women’s basketball player of all time and then they tune in to see this game after game,” someone else added.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“Steph quite literally would retire before ever putting up numbers like this,” another fan added, commenting on Clark’s popular comparison to Steph Curry.“She kills her team. All hype. No results. When she does dominate, they lose. Hollow stats,” someone else wrote.“Like I have said before, her shooting from college didn’t translate at the level her and her sponsors expected it to. Her no 1 skill, is her ability to playmake. She’s a regular shooter like everyone else not this generational shooter they have branded her to be,” another fan added.“She’s always been a one trick pony and that trick does not work anymore. She’s playing against elite competition and getting cooked on a nightly basis,” someone else commented.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementClark has bounced back from poor shooting stretches before. We’ll have to see how long it takes her to dig he
