After addressing the center position and the guard spots by adding Waker Kessler, Kevon Looney, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton, the Los Angeles Lakers are now zeroing in on the wing and forward spots. On Monday, they got Ziaire Williams, an athletic, defensive-minded 6-foot-9 forward, to agree to sign a one-year, $3 million contract. They’re not done trying to make moves. They’re still interested in executing a sign-and-trade deal for forward Jonathan Kuminga, who last played for the Atlanta Hawks this spring after being traded there by the Golden State Warriors. Kuminga has reportedly had interest in coming to Los Angeles, but his decision may be getting held up by LeBron James’ pending free agency decision.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIn the meantime, according to Marc Stein of “The Stein Line,” the Lakers have interest in signing free agent wing Matisse Thybulle.”The Lakers have again broadened their search for perimeter defense, league sources say, registering interest this week in free agent Matisse Thybulle,” Stein wrote on X (formerly Twitter).Thybulle could be an excellent low-risk, medium-reward add for the Purple and Gold. The 29-year-old has been injury-prone and has appeared in just 45 games over the last two seasons, but his ability is unquestioned. He is a legitimate 3-and-D wing who has made 41.1% of his 3-point attempts over the last two years. Overall, he has averaged 6.4 points on 45% field-goal shooting, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 0.6 blocks and 3.1 3-point attempts in 17.6 minutes a game during that time.Thybulle is 6-foot-5 and 202 pounds, and his wingspan is roughly seven feet. His vertical leap was recorded at just over 41 inches.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHe was the No. 20 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and made the All-Defensive second team in his second and third NBA seasons. He spent a good part of his early childhood in Sydney, Australia, and after returning to the United States, he grew up in the Seattle area before spending four years at the University of Washington. This article originally appeared on LeBron Wire: Lakers are reportedly interested in signing Matisse Thybulle
