Serie A upstarts Como 1907 have followed up their interest in Trevoh Chalobah with a bid or two over the past few weeks, but evidently none of those offers have met our asking price (whatever that asking price may be).According to Ben Jacobs, the Blues have “now rejected two bids” from the Champions League-bound outfit, but “talks continue” so presumably those rejections were done with a view towards getting more money rather than telling Como to go away.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJacobs adds that “other clubs [are] also interested”, which of course could be playing into our thinking. A bidding war benefits the seller. That said, Inter Milan have been the only other team mentioned in recent rumors, and that possibility is not looking too promising at the moment, at least according to Fabrizio Romano. Now that England are out of the World Cup — third place game on Saturday, but that doesn’t really matter in any sense — Chalobah’s future should get sorted out fairly quickly. It seems likely that he will be gone before the end of the summer one way or another, which is unfortunate. But it’s not like the other defenders who actually need gone are generating much interest … so it is what it is, I suppose.
