In partnership with other USA TODAY Network newspapers, we recently marked the nation’s 250th anniversary by spotlighting the top 250 athletes from across Michigan. Locally, we’ve created our own curated compilation: Battle Creek’s 250 — a roster celebrating the finest athletes from Battle Creek’s city schools. To keep things organized, we’re presenting the top 25 male and top 25 female athletes from each of the five traditional core city schools. These athletes have shined throughout their high school careers and beyond. Each list appears in alphabetical order, and Enquirer readers will have the opportunity to vote for who should be No. 1. Naturally, some critics will argue that certain deserving individuals are missing. To address that, our voting will include write-in options, making the poll a dynamic and interactive experience.
