Rosenior breaks silence on Chelsea exit

Liam Rosenior has spoken publicly for the first time since his Chelsea chapter ended, addressing his departure after being unveiled as the new manager of Paris FC. The 42-year-old wasted no time returning to work in France, where he had previously found success with Strasbourg before the brief coaching spell at Chelsea last season, which lasted less than four months. During a media briefing at Paris FC’s training ground, Rosenior reflected on the circumstances surrounding his exit from Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea endured a demanding run of five consecutive defeats without a single goal.
“I joined the club in the middle of a season and at a difficult moment, and I learned many lessons,” Rosenior said. He acknowledged that there were definitely aspects he could have handled better and areas where he could have taken greater accountability, while also highlighting positive facets of his time at Chelsea. “There are things I definitely could have done better and things I could have taken more accountability for, but there were also positive aspects to what we did,” he added. He extended his well-wishes to the club and its supporters, stating, “I wish them all the best in the future. I think they have a fantastic manager in Xabi Alonso and I will be following their results.”
Rosenior emphasized that the lessons learned during his Chelsea stint would inform his approach at Paris FC, with the aim of helping the club grow into a major force in world football. He expressed confidence that the experiences would translate into success in his current role and contribute to the club’s long-term ambitions.
Taking over from Antoine Kombouare, Rosenior inherits a Paris FC side that finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season. The club, backed by substantial investment and anchored by the Arnault family’s ownership, with Red Bull holding a minority stake, is positioned for significant development. Rosenior highlighted the appeal of Ligue 1, noting that the league’s quality and competitive nature align with the ambitions of the Paris FC project. He had previously praised Ligue 1 when he left Strasbourg for Chelsea, and he reiterated that he and his coaching staff had joined an exciting project with enormous potential that they could not turn down.
Rosenior’s move to Paris FC represents a fresh start after the rollercoaster of his Chelsea experience, and the Paris club’s ambitious roadmap gives him the platform to apply the lessons learned in English football abroad. He has underscored his commitment to building a stable, competitive setup that can compete at high levels while developing players and implementing a clear footballing philosophy. For Paris FC, the hiring signals a serious intent to accelerate progress and capitalize on growing resources and a vision for sustained improvement in French football’s top flight.
As the season progresses, Rosenior’s leadership will be scrutinized by fans and analysts alike, with expectations anchored in Paris FC’s potential to climb the Ligue 1 table and establish a stronger presence both domestically and on the European stage. His candid reflections about his Chelsea tenure, combined with his assertive belief in Paris FC’s future, set the tone for what many hope will be a transformative period for the club under his guidance.
