West Ham United have completed the permanent signing of France international Estelle Cascarino after a six-month loan spell, securing the defender on a new three-year contract. Cascarino arrives from Juventus, where she spent three seasons and won a league title, the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana in the 2023-24 campaign. The 29-year-old defender had a productive stint at West Ham in the latter part of last season, featuring 12 times across all competitions, and she earned a recall to the France squad in February, helping the club climb from the bottom of the table to 10th place.
Cascarino expressed her happiness at returning to West Ham United on a permanent basis, saying she made a quick decision because the club feels like home. She added that she cherished every moment of her previous spell and is excited to begin pre-season with the squad, working alongside Rita Guarino and the rest of the staff and players.
West Ham’s manager, Rita Guarino, welcomed the news, stating that the club is delighted to extend Estelle’s stay. Guarino emphasized that retaining a defender of Cascarino’s quality was crucial, noting the impact she had when she arrived in January helped the team secure their status as a WSL club. She highlighted Cascarino’s experience and abilities as essential as the team looks to progress this season and expressed her anticipation of working with her again.
Cascarino has previously played for several prominent clubs, including Manchester United, Lyon, Paris FC, Bordeaux, and Paris Saint-Germain, before making her move to Juventus, where she contributed 49 appearances across three years and collected multiple trophies. Her continued presence at West Ham is seen as a key component of the club’s plans to strengthen the squad and push for further achievements in the Women’s Super League.
