Jose Mourinho waiting on exits before green-lighting two more Real Madrid transfersReal Madrid’s entire summer transfer window has been dictated by the preferences and decisions of Jose Mourinho, who recently took over as the team’s new manager.Florentino Perez and Co. have shown a great deal of trust in the Portuguese coach and the project he advocates and have handed him a free hand in the transfer decision-making.In that regard, the club have already done good business this summer through the signings of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva. The ‘Special One’, however, demands more of the board. Two more prioritiesAs reported by MARCA (h/t RM4Arab) in a recent update, Mourinho continues to demand reinforcements in two critical positions on the field – centre-back and midfield.Mourinho wants another defender. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images)Konate’s signing this summer was indeed a direct reinforcement to the central defence, but Mourinho feels a deep need to have at least one more world-class name in that position. After all, Antonio Rudiger is not getting any younger and Eder Militao’s fitness has been unreliable in recent years. In midfield, meanwhile, there is a hunt for a profile who can serve as a creative fulcrum for Real Madrid. The manager is looking for a dynamic star who is comfortable on the ball and can help the team dominate games – something they missed last season.A critical hurdleWhile the report does clarify the two signings Mourinho specifically demands, it also makes clear that Real Madrid are far from fulfilling those demands. After all, both the central defence and midfield are stacked with players and new signings are not possible without departures.Camavinga and Asencio have been linked with departures. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images)The club have already identified transferable candidates in both positions and are working on sealing the departures at the earliest. In defence, there is an attempt to oust Raul Asencio from the squad given that Mourinho does not count on the player. The manager, however, prefers that the club sign a new player first so he can use that to convince the academy graduate to leave.Eduardo Camavinga, meanwhile, has been labelled as the top midfield candidate to depart. The club see serious market value for the Frenchman and hope to cash in on him given his recent dip in form. Camavinga himself, however, stands firmly against an exit and is working hard to convince Mourinho.
