​[BBC]The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are set to cost approximately £150m to put on.About £100m of that money is funded privately by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), with the remainder coming from a range of commercial revenues such as ticket sales, broadcast rights, commercial sponsorship and merchandise.The £150m budget is a fraction of the £778m allocated to hosting the 2022 edition of the Games in Birmingham in 2022. Despite a more streamlined approach with fewer events and the lower cost, the Commonwealth Games says it “retains the same global ambition” as it has previously done.It is said the lower budget comes with no cost to UK taxpayers. The UK Government has offered to fund £2.3m in contingency costs to fund security if necessary.
