Uros Medic expects the upcoming UFC welterweight title fight to end in a finish.Medic, a rising contender in the UFC’s welterweight division, believes champion Islam Makhachev will stop Ian Machado Garry when they headline UFC 330 on Aug. 15 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia (Paramount+). Medic was quick in sharing his pick while also taking a shot at the Irishman.”I think Islam Makhachev will finish him,” Medic told MMA Junkie on Tuesday. “There’s gonna be a little bit more of a reign before the Dagestani guys are done and gone and forgotten. They’re exceptional athletes, exceptional fighters, and hard workers, so it is going to be hard to get them out, but obviously Father Time comes for everybody. In the next couple of years, I think we will see them gone from the top of the division, and as of right now, Ian ‘The Decision Merchant’ Garry, will get finished by Islam.”Medic (13-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) headlines his first UFC main event this Saturday on home soil in Belgrade, Serbia. He takes on veteran Daniel Rodriguez (20-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) in a five-round bout.Medic, who’s looking to make a big statement and get on a title run, has big respect for what Makhachev and company has done in MMA. Although he thinks their reign will come to an end in the next few years, he won’t take anything away from what they have already done in the sport.”The Dagestanis have been setting records for quite a while,” Medic said. “When I say Dagestanis, I’m predominantly speaking of Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and Islam. The rest of the Dagestani are maybe not as much, but these two guys are very exceptional fighters. It will be a long time before someone else breaks those records, but I mean, props to them. You know, they have been born and bred into fighting. Obviously the results show their school and their father, Abdulmanap, Khabib’s father, has had a blueprint for them to become champions and had a vision. He was able to put that vision into reality through them even though he is now gone, he lives in those memories and lives through them and through those championships and those records, so all respect to those guys, the way they treat the sport, the way they treat each other and the family, and the way they stay on top. It’s very impressive to me, very, very impressive.”This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Uros Medic: Islam Makhachev finishes ‘decision merchant’ at UFC 330
