This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke with retired 8-time Pro Bowl defensive back Patrick Peterson. In his interview with Easton Jr., Peterson, who participated in this year’s American Century Championship, held at Edgewood Tahoe and aired on NBC and Peacock, was also rumored in the past to be of interest to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, recalled a special defensive moment in his career.”Favorite quarterback I got an interception off of. I probably say I gotta go with Tom Brady; I got a nice one-hander off of him in 2012. It was a deflected pass, but he was a quarterback, and he threw it, and I intercepted the ball, so I go with Tom Brady. Still, my favorite interception of all time, and it’s not the prettiest one, but it’s my favorite one,” said Peterson. “I go back to 2022, the last game of the season against the Chicago Bears. Andy Dalton is the quarterback, in the fourth quarter, maybe with five minutes left in the game. At this point, I have no interceptions this season, and this will be my first time ending a 17-game streak.”Peterson was a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons in the NFL and was named to the All-Pro first team on three occasions while collecting 37 career interceptions. In 2019 and 2024, there was trade and free-agent speculation that Peterson could join the Chiefs, especially alongside Tyrann Mathieu, but it never materialized.”It’ll be my first time that I have ended the season without an interception, so obviously the time’s getting winding down, like, oh man, and we, and we’re winning,” said Peterson, “Luckily, we were winning, so they had to throw the ball. It was fourth and one; yeah, it was fourth and short, and they decided to throw the ball, and he got pressured into it, and it was up for grabs.”The annual tournament awarded $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities.Congratulations to @MardyFish on winning the 2026 @ACChampionship and earning the first-ever American Century Championship Lab Coat!
