​The San Francisco 49ers are in a good position in training camp. The Niners have a roster stacked with talent leading up to the preseason.The talented depth is good news for the team’s prospects, but bad news for players on the fringe of being cut from the roster. One NFL writer is discussing what it means for San Francisco wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.The 49ers receiver room upgraded not only in volume but in caliber headlined by veteran additions in Mike Evans and Christian Kirk and rookie receiver De’Zhaun Stribling. Newsweek’s Michael Gallagher discussed what the moves could mean for Robinson.Here’s some of what Gallagher wrote on a roster spot that could be in danger.”Wide receiver is one of San Francisco’s biggest question marks heading into training camp; however, it’s also a pretty deep position as well. Mike Evans is the team’s clear-cut WR1, and some order of Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Christian Kirk will fill out WRs 2-4, leaving Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, Colton Dowell, Junior Bergen, Wesley Grimes, Will Pauling, and Malik Turner to compete for what’s likely two roster spots.Cowing is a favorite of the coaching staff, though injuries have derailed any momentum he’s tried to build. His added value as a returner will likely keep him in the mix. Watkins, the team’s fourth-round pick a season ago, is also talented yet struggled with injuries last year. While some Niners receivers are favorites to return based on potential, Robinson has actually got it done on the field. That has to count for something.Whether Robinson gets cut or not, his 2025 sample indicates he can be a contributing member of a playoff team and NFC contender. The likelihood is he will play somewhere in the NFL if not San Francisco. We’ll see where he ends up as training camp progresses and the roster solidifies.
