Dodgers Offense Finally Picks Up Pitching Staff in Key Win vs. Rockies

By admin — In News — August 19, 2026

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 as the offense continues to rake and finally help the pitching staff. The Dodgers’ offense has been poor for weeks now, struggling to produce sustained hits and put together meaningful innings of quality at-bats. The slugging was on full display, with seven runs coming on 10 hits, including Shohei Ohtani’s 30th home run of the season. The star of the offense, however, was Freddie Freeman, who showed an intensity and effort that Dave Roberts has been calling for. Oh, and Freeman went 2-for-3 on the night with two RBIs and a walk. It was a spark from an unexpected source in Freeman, but it was exactly what the team needed. On the pitching side, Eric Lauer allowed four runs over six innings, which isn’t ideal on its face, but given they were playing in Colorado, it was a solid night for the veteran. Bullpen-wise, Edgardo Henriquez had a good night, and Tanner Scott got the four-out save, allowing just a run in the process. Going forward, Scott will be the Dodgers’ closer until Edwin Diaz comes back. Evan Phillips was the only point of major concern, really struggling to get going on the night. When do the Dodgers play next?LA will close the series against the Rockies on Wednesday, with Roki Sasaki taking the mound and the Dodgers hoping for a sweep. If the offense shows up again as they have on Monday and Tuesday, the Dodgers will have a good chance to pull off the win and head into their homestand against the Pirates with momentum.
