HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WJHL) — With the NASCAR Cup Series Chase just over two weeks away, Joe Gibbs Racing does not have to worry about getting its drivers into the postseason.Denny Hamlin, Ty Gibbs, Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell have already clinched spots in the Chase, making JGR the only four-car organization with its entire lineup locked into the postseason.Hamlin enters the final stretch of the regular season atop the Cup Series points standings, but the veteran driver knows that advantage will mean little once the 10-race Chase begins.“The regular season is great and we built a very good points lead there, but that’s all about to go away,” Hamlin said. While JGR has put itself in position to contend with four drivers, the organization is still chasing its first Cup Series championship since 2019.JGR President Dave Alpern said that drought, combined with the heartbreak of falling short last season, has only added to the team’s motivation.“Last year, the heartbreak, that was our championship. Denny wants it back, but he’s got three teammates that want it too,” Alpern said. “So, that’s going to be an interesting dynamic as we go forward.”The late Kyle Busch was the last driver to deliver a Cup Series championship to JGR and Toyota, capturing his second career title in 2019.Busch’s legacy will also be part of NASCAR’s return to Bristol Motor Speedway in September. Ty Gibbs’ No. 54 Toyota will carry the iconic yellow M&M’s scheme associated with Busch as a tribute to the two-time Cup Series champion.Gibbs will return to Bristol with momentum of his own after earning his first ever Cup series win with the spring’s Food City 500. Last September, Christopher Bell won the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, giving JGR trips to victories in each of the last two Cup races at the World’s Fastest Half Mile.“You know, year after year, it doesn’t matter what the rules package or the tires [are], we’ve been really competitive there,” Bell said. “Hopefully the 20 car will be up there, but certainly one of the Toyotas will be for sure.”With all four postseason spots secured, JGR can now shift its focus toward the Chase and ending a seven-year championship drought.Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
