​Clemson had the option to search the transfer portal for a quarterback this offseason. Dabo Swinney never felt the Tigers needed to.His confidence in Christopher Vizzina played a major role in that decision.Vizzina spent the past three seasons behind Cade Klubnik, but remained with the Tigers rather than looking elsewhere for an easier path to playing time. Now, with Klubnik in the NFL, the senior has his first real chance to take over the offense.Swinney believes Vizzina would have received much more national attention had he transferred. Instead, staying at Clemson has made him easier for outsiders to overlook.Vizzina acknowledged that possibility Tuesday, but made it clear outside perception means little to him.“I don’t really care how other people view me,” Vizzina said. “I’ve always wanted to be here. I want people to know that.”That patience could now be rewarded.Vizzina entered fall camp ahead of highly regarded freshman Tait Reynolds in the quarterback competition.
