The New York Giants and Miami Dolphins faced off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, in their second preseason game of 2026 on Saturday. The Giants started strong and fast, taking a 20-3 lead into the locker room at halftime. They never looked back, despite Brandon Allen’s efforts at derailing his team, and won the game, 26-3.One of the reasons the Giants were so successful early in the game was thanks to the play of quarterback Jameis Winston. Given his performance, Winston earned Player of the Game honors from Giants Wire.On his first drive, Winston took it upon himself to make sure a touchdown was scored, diving over the pylon for six points.Jameis takes it himself for SIX!Stream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/hdDZVnQCPg— NFL (@NFL) August 22, 2026Winston completed 15 of 21 passes (two drops) for 150 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 7.1 yards per pass and ended the game with a 91.4 quarterback rating. He played the entire first half, and the Giants seemed to do no wrong, save for the fumble by Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the end of the first quarter. While Jaxson Dart didn’t play today, Winston took control of the offense in the first half like he’s done a million times since entering the league in 2015. He may not have had the career that he (or anyone else) anticipated, but Winston is a solid backup. The way Winston played directly impacted the outcome of this game, and that is why he will make the final 53-man roster as Dart’s backup. This article originally appeared on Giants Wire: New York Giants vs. Miami Dolphins Player of the Game: Jameis Winston
