It’s a new week, and that means we are one week closer to the return of Carolina Hurricanes’ hockey! However, before I dig into the latest headlines and stories of interest, I want to take the moment to first highlight a wonderful initiative completed by the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation this past week. As previously reported, the organization had donated $10k for the creation and distribution of Hurricanes themed hospital gowns for pediatric patients in a trio of Triangle-area hospitals.Last Tuesday, they were able to complete that project, with representatives of the Hurricanes Foundation and the non-profit organization Kids Who Gives (and mascot Stormy) visiting with children and families in ECU Health Maynard Children’s Hospital. You can check out the details here!It was a really good day ❤️ pic.twitter.com/ssZGmtor8c— Canes in the Community (@Canes_Community) August 18, 2026Tracking the Stanley CupThursday, Eric Robinson had his day with the Stanley Cup, spending it in Sewell, New Jersey, with his family, and a family close to him in the Guadreaus. The time with the Cup was spent at The Gaudreau Rink at Hollydell Ice Arena – the childhood rink of Robinson, named after brothers Johnny and Matthew, who tragically passed in a 2024 incident.Their father, Guy, was Robinson’s youth hockey coach, and joined him with his own family at the rink to celebrate Robinson’s Cup win.Robinson and Guy both shared a Cup lift together during the day, as captured by the Keeper of the Cup, Phil Pritchard.Eric Robinson grew up playing hockey in Jersey with Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau and was coached by their dad, Guy.Years later, he brought the #StanleyCup back to where it all started, giving Coach Guy the chance to hoist it. ❤️(📸: @keeperofthecup) pic.twitter.com/7ub3PDW3tt— NHL (@NHL) August 22, 2026Friday, Andrei Svechnikov had his own day with Stanley. With the Cup unable to travel to Russia at this time, Svechnikov kept it local with some trips through the Triangle Area of North Carolina. Like many of the players before him, he started the day off with a visit to pediatric patients and their families, bringing the Cup to UNC Children’s Hospital to share in the celebration with the young warriors.Good guy Svech and Stanley spreading some joy at UNC Children’s Hospital ❤️ pic.twitter.com/DyzzWI4rOn— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) August 22, 2026Afterwards, had a little shindig with friends and family, including…TRIPP TRACY?!
