   ​Barcelona academy wonderkid out for five weeks with ankle injuryAccording to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona teenage wonderkid Ebrima Tunkara has been sidelined with an ankle injury.Ebrima trained with the reserve team on Friday after spending the entire pre-season with the first team. This past weekend, he played a few minutes in Barça Atletic’s friendly against Vilanova, but was forced off after taking a heavy blow to his ankle.Medical tests were carried out on Monday and, according to reports, Ebrima will be sidelined for around five weeks.The academy player had been named in the Spain Under-18 squad for an upcoming friendly tournament in Alfaz del Pi. He joins four other Barça players in the squad: Jordi Pesquer, Raul Exposito, Sergi Mayans and Roberto Tomas.Expected to be important for Barça AtleticThe plan is for Ebrima to play an important role for Barça Atletic this season. His injury, however, means he will miss roughly the first five league matches.The reserve side will open their campaign against Naxara at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, followed by an away trip to face Logrones Promesas and another at Barbastro. They will then host Pena Sport, with Ebrima potentially returning against Tudelano on the first weekend of October.One of pre-season’s biggest surprisesBefore the injury, Ebrima had been one of Barcelona’s standout academy players during pre-season with the first team. The youngster, however, is happy with Barcelona’s development plan and remains committed to the club.Barcelona have invested heavily in the teenage wonderkid’s development because they believe he is one of the academy’s strongest candidates to eventually break into the first team.
