​Malik Nabers took the next step toward playing in the regular-season opener. The Giants were not in full pads Monday, but the wide receiver shed the red non-contact jersey for the first time since training camp opened and caught several passes during 11-on-11 sessions.It was the reasonable next step in Nabers’ recovery, according to coach John Harbaugh. “I thought he looked good,” Harbaugh said after practice in East Rutherford. “I’ll look at the tape later, but he was moving well, probably moving the best we’ve seen him look.”One of the biggest offseason storylines has been Nabers’ health and his availability for the Giants’ season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.Harbaugh was non-committal when asked, specifically, about Nabers playing against the Cowboys, barring a setback. “Yeah I just don’t want to make any statements like that,” Harbaugh said. “It’s reasonable to assume that. Those are all things you can assume just based off watching him at practice, but one thing I know more than you guys know is what the (doctors) and trainers tell me as far as his rehab. While it was a step in the right direction for Nabers, the Giants did have one injury setback when tight end Theo Johnson left the field after colliding with defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux.
