​Tyler Glasnow’s return to the mound Tuesday night experienced some early turbulence. 35 pitches were thrown, and three runs crossed the plate for the Atlanta Braves. But, in the end, Glasnow settled down and managed to record five innings and strike out seven, but it wasn’t enough with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ dropping the series opener by a final score of 4-3. Soft contact and overall bad bounces prolonged Glasnow’s return to the mound in the first inning. The Braves’ top of the lineup took advantage of that spread and racked up three singles—mixed with a sacrifice fly—to put up three runs. Glasnow then put on the shades and cruised through the next four innings without allowing a run. Between Alex Call, Alek Thomas, and Hunter Feduccia, they went 5-for-9 with three RBIs. Just as the Braves remained scoreless, the Dodgers did just the same. Overall, Dodgers hitters went 3-for-12 sith runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. Fast forward to the bottom of the eighth and a runner on third with two outs, Los Angeles handed the ball to Tanner Scott to capture a scoreless frame. Ozzi Albies was aggressive, so much so that he poked the go-ahead RBI single to center field to give the Braves their first lead since the first inning. Los Angeles had not hit an extra-base hit since Saturday’s win at home, but that all changed as Shohei Ohtani led off the ninth inning with a triple that bounced off Mike Yastrzemski’s glove. With the tying run just 90-feet away, the Dodgers were unable to score. Braves closer Raisel Iglesias managed to strike out Freddie Freeman and induce a ground out to Mookie Betts before intentionally walking Max Muncy. With runners on the corners and two outs, Tommy Edman could have improved his 1-for-4 performance with the potential biggest hit of the night for Los Angeles, but Iglesias induced a pop-up to end the game. With the loss, the Dodgers drop to 80-52 and snap their six-game winning streak. Los Angeles will look to even up the series on Wednesday with Roki Sasaki taking the mound against righty AJ Smith-Shawyer.
