​When head coach Jenna Franks took over as Dover’s volleyball coach this season she knew it would be a big change for her players.”They’ve all worked really hard and have done everything we have asked them to do,” she said.Frank started her head coaching career with losses to North Ridgeville (2-0) and River View (2-0), but in her first game against Ohio Cardinal Conference foe, Madison Comprehensive on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Crimson Tornadoes won 3-0.”It feels really good to get the first in the win column,” Frank said. “We knew we could come out on top tonight if we just played our style of volleyball.”Make your pick! The Tornadoes came into 2026 missing the OCC Defensive Player of the Year and three first/second team conference members.”We have had to have players step up this year,” Franks said. “Ali Hupp has become our big leader and is doing things that really wasn’t asked of her in the past but has embraced that role.”Over the past couple of weeks, Kenzie Wood has stepped into a role where I don’t think she knew what it was going to be and has been an outstanding leader for the rest of the girls.”Dover defeated the Rams in three consecutive sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) as Hupp led the team with 13 digs, 12 kills and five blocks. Wood added four blocks and four kills of her own.Coming into the season, Franks knew she would have to change Dover’s style of play to transition from an offensive team to a more defensive team.”We’re not quite as big as we have been in the past,” she said. “So we’re going to have to be strong on defense to be able to compete and win some of the big games this season. Through three games, Franks has seen her team make improvements.”Coming into tonight our serves have been a little shaky,” she said. “We were coming off a game and it was something we were not happy with, and then today they bounced back.
