​Not many people can offer better insight and analysis for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers than Ronde Barber.The Hall of Famer, who is a Bucs legend, still has a role with the organization as a franchise ambassador and is very well-connected to the team’s inner workings.Barber appeared on the Jim Rome Show and shared his thoughts on Tampa’s wide receivers, who have the inevitable task of replacing another Bucs legend, Mike Evans, who left for the San Francisco 49ers after 12 seasons in Tampa.Even without Evans, quarterback Baker Mayfield has no shortage of talented wide receivers to throw to. Veteran Chris Godwin Jr., who formed a dynamic duo with Evans for years, is healthy again after dealing with multiple injuries, which have cost him 17 games over the last two seasons.Aside from Godwin, the Bucs’ other WRs are extremely young and all have very bright futures. Emeka Egbuka, Tampa’s first-round pick a year ago, is being counted on to become the guy who fills Evans’ shoes long-term. Tampa hopes the 1-2 punch of Egbuka and Godwin can duplicate the success of the Evans-Godwin duo.Jalen McMillan, entering his third season, burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2024 after Godwin was injured. His success down the stretch raised expectations for his sophomore season, but a preseason neck injury robbed him of almost the entire campaign. McMillan is expected to be Tampa’s WR3 in 2026 and should see plenty of targets.Rookie Ted Hurst has also been turning heads throughout training camp and has actually earned comparisons to Evans. Hurst should be an impact player, even as a rookie.It is easy to see why Mayfield has total confidence in his receivers this season.Barber also feels good about Tampa’s pass-catchers and believes the team will go as far as the young duo of Egbuka and McMillan can take them.Barber Thinks Egbuka And McMillan Are The KeysSpeaking to Rome, Barber acknowledges what Godwin brings to the team as a productive, trustworthy possession receiver.
