​The Brooklyn Nets came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign where they finished with a 20-62 record. Brooklyn is hoping to win as many games as possible next season and is likely looking to make a postseason appearance, but a significant portion of the fanbase don’t see that outcome in the team’s future.In a recent poll conducted by NetsDaily, 48% of the respondents believe that the team will not be in the postseason race for the 2026-27 season despite the additions the team made this summer. What makes this outcome interesting is that in a separate poll earlier this month, 56% of the respondents believed that the team will win somewhere between 30 and 39 games next year.For the aforementioned poll in question related to whether the Nets will be in the postseason race or not, 30% of the respondents say that the team will make the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Continuing on with the poll, 18% of the voters say that the team will be in the playoff hunt in some capacity while only 4% say that the team will make the playoffs.To put into perspective the kind of season the Nets would need to have to potentially sniff the play-in tournament, the Miami Heat were the 10th seed (last spot in the play-in) last season with a 43-39 record. Assuming that Brooklyn has a significantly better season next year by winning somewhere between 30 and 39 games, they would likely have to be better than that. The East only got better with players like LeBron James (Philadelphia 76ers) and Kawhi Leonard (Toronto Raptors) coming to the East from the Western Conference.The Nets made some interesting moves this offseason by trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle while also adding guard Keon Ellis and center Mo Wagner in free-agency. However, Brooklyn also lost center Nic Claxton (Chicago Bulls) and forward Ziaire Williams (Los Angeles Lakers) so their absence will have to be filled in some way.
