​SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Angelo State Rambelles returned to the win column on Saturday, Aug 29.After Angelo State’s season opener ended in a 1-1 draw Thursday night, the Rambelles searched for their first win of the early season Saturday afternoon against Colorado State Pueblo. The visiting Thunderwolves had other plans in the first half, opening the scoring with the game’s first goal in the 35th minute to lead 1-0. CSU Pueblo held the same lead at halftime, but the second half was a different story.The Rambelles’ comeback began in the 69th minute, when sophomore Eleanor Lock drilled an equalizing penalty kick. Just ten minutes later, the Rambelles took a 2-1 lead via freshman Zanae Nylund’s first career college goal. And just two minutes later, ASU scored the dagger. On a corner kick, sophomore Ava Cantu timed a header perfectly to put the Rambelles ahead 3-1. Angelo State won by that exact score, securing new head coach Mike Erwin’s first win with the program. “It feels great,” Erwin said. “I’m really excited and proud of the girls. Their effort and being down for a good portion of the game 1-0 [showed] resolve. [The players] keep pushing and stick to our tactics while the other group was breaking play up pretty well. [It] was exciting to see.”The Rambelles begin a three-game road trip next week at Colorado School of Mines.
