Julian Alvarez has been Barcelona’s top target but Atletico Madrid simply will not sell the Argentina international to their La Liga rivals.Jesus now looks set to be part of Hansi Flick’s squad for the 2026-27 season but that doesn’t mean Barca are giving up on Alvarez, according to reports in Spain.Barcelona remain interested in Alvarez and will continue to monitor his situation in case Atletico change their stance in the future, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Catalans know that Alvarez wants to play for the club and are grateful for his efforts in trying to make the move to Camp Nou this summer. There’s a similar report from Diario Sport and a claim that Barcelona could even try for Alvarez again in January. The club will keep a careful eye on the situation knowing that Alvarez still wants to depart and that his relationship with the club’s fans is broken after a summer of speculation about a move to Barcelona.
