​Not only will the Tennessee Volunteers honor Dolly Parton this season with helmet stickers, but the school’s athletic director made it clear the season-opener will honor the country music legend.Danny White posted on social media Thursday there will plenty of reasons to stay in the seats throughout the game.“Our helmet stickers won’t be the only way we honor Dolly on Saturday,” White posted on X. “We’ve got tributes planned throughout the game, and I’d strongly encourage y’all to stay in your seats for the end of the UT bands halftime show (and again in between the third and fourth quarters).”It wasn’t revealed which song will be played.According to 247 Sports, Parton sang “Rocky Top” inside Neyland Stadium in Tennessee’s 2023 game against Georgia. Peyton Manning escorted the country icon to the stage.Parton, the legendary country music icon, died at the age of 80 last week after a “brief battle with cancer,” her publicist Marcel Pariseausaid.“After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones,” Pariseau’s statement said.Parton was admitted the Friday prior to her death to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville with kidney and autoimmune issues.Her death was announced in a video shared on her social media accounts on Tuesday. It came after the beloved singer endured months of health issues.Parton revealed earlier this month that she is still dealing with health issues, but the 80-year-old country music legend was still “workin.”Parton told PEOPLE just last week she put her own health aside while caring for her late husband of 60 years, Carl Dean, who died at age 82 in March 2025.“I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl,” she said.She also recalled in the early 1980s when she was “down for several months with female issues.”“It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health,” she said. “But I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago. I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI!
