​A court date for Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been moved up to Sept. 10, according to online court records.Jacobs, who is charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property, was originally scheduled for an initial appearance on Nov. 17. That is the week of the Packers’ bye.Instead, he will make his first court appearance at 11 a.m. Sept. 10 in Brown County Circuit Court in Green Bay.The charges stem from an incident on May 23 in Hobart. According to the criminal complaint filed Aug. 27:Hobart-Lawrence Police Department officers at 8:37 a.m. May 23 responded to a Hobart home belonging to Jacobs for a reported disturbance between Jacobs and his girlfriend. Both Jacobs and the woman were not at the residence when officers first arrived.  The two had been arguing when Jacobs refused to return the woman’s phone. The argument resulted in a physical struggle in which Jacobs grabbed the woman’s arm.  Jacobs then left the house with the woman’s phone and she left in a separate car to follow him to get her phone back.  The two went back to the house and she again asked for her phone, but Jacobs refused.  The woman a short time later tried to leave the house via the garage. Jacobs followed her, grabbed her and threw her to the ground.  The woman struck her head on the ground and asked another person in the house at the time to call the police for her. The person said he could not help.  An officer who later interviewed the woman saw redness on the woman’s face and could feel the bump on the back of her head.  One of the woman’s two phones was damaged during the interactions with Jacobs.  Several days later, investigators recovered electronic devices, including video surveillance, from the home. It would take until late July before the video files could be reviewed and verified.  Descriptions of the video footage recovered from the home corroborated what the woman told police happened the morning of May 23, including the altercation and Jacobs apparently damaging the woman’s phone.The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department originally referred charges of battery, criminal damage of property, disorderly conduct, each with domestic abuse enhancers, as well as strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim, to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office did not file domestic violence-related charges.Both charges carry maximum sentences of nine months in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.Jacobs signed with Packers in 2024 after five seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders.
