When asked Saturday whether he would request a trade amid his unresolved contract negotiations, Gonzalez offered a careful response that kept his immediate focus on New England.“I’m here right now,” Gonzalez said, per Patriots on CLNS. “I’ll always be where my feet are and do what I gotta do.”That was not the sweeping declaration Patriots fans might have wanted to hear, but it also was not a threat or an attempt to force his way out of Foxboro. Gonzalez remains with the Patriots. He continues to practice. And despite his frustration with the lack of progress toward a long-term extension, the 24-year-old is publicly presenting himself as a member of the team.The trade question did not emerge without reason.Gonzalez’s trainer reportedly wrote “trade him” in a since-deleted social media post after details about the negotiations surfaced.
