ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN – SEPTEMBER 05: Dillon Moore #12 of the Western Michigan Broncos sits on the bench after losing to the Michigan Wolverines 13-12 on a 47 yard touchdown with no time remaining at Michigan Stadium on September 05, 2026 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. However, on this occasion, it’s impossible to choose just one from yesterday’s football insanity, so here goes. First, North Texas defensive lineman Udoka Ezeani risked giving Indiana QB Josh Hoover a potentially catastrophic injury with this facemask. Hoover got up with blood everywhere, and most people would have sat down at least for a bit, but he kept playing. He could have suffered a devastating injury here. That should have resulted in an immediate ejection and, in our opinion, conceivably a forfeit. That would have sent a strong message. Second was the end of the Western Michigan-Michigan game in the Big House. We don’t understand all of what happened here, and we’ll defer to those who are paying closer attention or more informed, but it looks like the Broncos got screwed, at literally the last second on the clock. WMU did everything right to pull off a shocking upset, but after what appeared to be the final play, the officials reviewed the play and put one second back on the clock. And as it turned out, that was enough for the Wolverines to pull off a miracle Hail Mary play. If you go frame by frame, it sure looks like the ball was still just above the Western Michigan player’s hands when the clock hit 0:00.The Big Ten disagreed, however, and said it was the correct call. From what we saw, and reasonable minds can disagree, the clock ran out before anyone touched the ball. This is the best video we’ve seen so far. It’s a shame for the Broncos, who did everything they needed to do to pull off the biggest win in school history.Update – the MAC has accepted the Big Ten’s explanation.Michigan Stuns Western Michigan On Hail Mary After Clock ControversyWait just a second: No. 16 Michigan catches second-chance Hail Mary, survives scare vs WMUWhat’s being said nationally after Michigan wins on second-chance Hail MaryWMU coach addresses Michigan Hail Mary, says clock ‘was past zeros’Michigan football Hail Mary miracle: Tony Garcia breaks it downNo. 16 Michigan beats Western Michigan 13-12 on controversial Hail Mary after clock was reset to 1 secondMichigan Hail Mary saves Kyle Whittingham debut vs WMU, but should it have counted?Michigan lost to Western Michigan.
