​Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty ImagesBaltimore Orioles had promised fans a big-name guest splasher for their game on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox.Fans had spent hundreds of dollars to sit in the team’s Bird Bath Splash Zone, but were left frustrated when the guest Zay Flowers did not show up.The team had announced in June that the Ravens’ wide receiver would be the guest splasher on the night, but that never happened. The team failed to announce this to the fans, leaving many disappointed.The team stopped promotional activities, but there was no official announcement to inform fans of his decision not to appear as the guest splasher.The Splash Zone has been at Camden Yards since 2013. Fans get sprayed with water from Mr Splash and a cast of guest splashers.While he wasn’t available as the guest splasher, Flowers did throw the ceremonial first pitch of the game.The team shared an update with the fans who bought tickets to see Flowers as the splasher.Orioles ready to work with fans for refundsFans in the Splash Zone were not happy about Flowers not being there, and even chanted ‘We want Zay.’Some even spent over $800 on tickets and were left disappointed to know that he would not be one of the guest splashers.“While we had included the appearance with the original announcement, we did not continue to promote it,” the spokesperson said to the Baltimore Sun. “(Orioles will) work with any fans who reach out for a satisfactory solution.”The team posted on their X handle on June 18 the news that Flowers would be there to throw the first pitch and be the guest splasher. They have since deleted the post.Several fans who specifically booked tickets for the Splash Zone were left disappointed after Flowers was not the guest splasher. Some fans donned his NFL jerseys and even travelled from afar to see him up close, but they were deprived of that opportunity.Flowers has not spoken about what happened on Saturday so far.
