​Brooklyn Nets forward Julius Randle is no stranger to playing for a new team as he heads into his 13th NBA season with one of the youngest teams in the league in the Nets. Brooklyn acquired Randle from the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this offseason with the goal of helping forward Michael Porter Jr. create more offense and he explained what he envisions their partnership looking like this upcoming season.”It’s going to be great. We’re two completely different players as far as style of play, and I think we actually complement each other very well,” Randle said of himself and Porter during an interview with journalist Gabriel Martins at a Sketchers event. Heading into this season, Randle and Porter will be tasked with being the offensive engines of the team and it seems like Randle is ready to see what it looks like.”I can do a lot with the ball off the dribble, creating, and he’s a great catch-and-shoot guy. He can really space the floor, so I think we’ll complement each other very well,” Randle continued. As Randle said in his interview, he and Porter have different ways of playing the game, but both players can complement each other, especially in an offense under a guy in head coach Jordi Fernandez who’s willing to be creative with his offensive sets.Porter, 28, is coming off the best season of his career as he averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the field and 36.3% from behind the three-point line. Randle, 31, is coming off another solid season by his standards as he averaged 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per contest while shooting 48.1% from the floor and 31.5% from deep in 79 games played for the Timberwolves.Ultimately, Randle will take on more of the ball-handling and shot-creation duties within the offense, especially with young players like Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. still learning how to be ball-handlers at the next level.
