He has shed the cast he was in after his injury, and now it’s a race against the clock to get back on the field. Additionally, the regular season may be over entirely when he is ready, so the Red Sox would be throwing him into a postseason lineup after missing two months.It would be a risk, but it’s hard to argue he would not make their lineup better. Trevor Story and Roman Anthony have looked great at the plate since their returns, and adding Med to the mix would give the Red Sox a chance to put out their best lineup of the year in October.If Mead does make a return in time for the postseason, the Red Sox would ideally have Adley Rutschman at catcher, Willson Contreras at first base, Mead at second base, Story at shortstop, Caleb Durbin at third base and Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu in the outfield. Chad Tracy would have his pick of Jahmai Jones, Andruw Monasterio, Jarren Duran, Nick Sogard or Mickey Gasper at designated hitter.
