SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The No. 8 Water Valley Wildcats take on the No. 10 Sands Mustangs in week three of the 2026 high school football regular season.The Water Valley Wildcats entered the 2026 regular season unranked. After defeating Garden City and No. 1 Rankin in the first two weeks by scores of 61-12 and 93-90, the Wildcats have since jumped to eighth in the state among Class 1A Division I schools. In week three, the Wildcats faced another big test against the No. 10 Sands Mustangs. Once again, Water Valley passed its test with flying colors. This week three matchup began as a back-and-forth duel while the squads exchanged first-quarter touchdowns. From that point on, Water Valley seized control after leading 24-15. The Wildcats held a 50-27 halftime lead and didn’t slow down there; Water Valley improved to 3-0 with an 89-47 win.
