We can set aside all of the issues going into this and just marvel at the fact that at high noon, Carolina takes the field to make us all, truly, feel like Fall has arrived—even though it isn’t official for another week. Chapel Hill will come to life with fans, the sounds of pregame will fill the morning air before the sounds of pads crunching against each other pop into our ears. It’s hard not to at least feel a little excited. The opponent is one that Carolina should have an easier time with in East Tennessee State University. This is a squad that put up some points but ultimately lost to Campbell. If Carolina even has a fair amount of time struggling in this one then there are some real problems. In fact in a perfect world a lot more players will play today than did two weeks ago, to try and develop some depth before the big showdown in Clemson next weekend. If you’re going to the area today, you should be in for at least a bit of a treat. The Chapel Thrill concert series returns with none other than Shaquille O’Neal spinning some tunes as DJ Diesel. Still it’ll be the first time a version of the stair step UNC has been seen on the field in decades, and it should strike a chord with fans as Kenan Stadium celebrates its 100th Season. There will also be a special guest on hand to fire the crowd up.
