It was an ugly performance from quarterback John Mateer, as his play didn’t help his team too much.Shortly after the contest, the redshirt senior acknowledged how poorly he played, according to George Stoia III of On3 Sports. He informed media members that his vision from the pocket was lacking, and that he missed throws he typically tends to make.“I think my eyes weren’t great,” Mateer said. “We’ll go back and watch it. But I missed a lot of throws that I normally don’t miss. Mateer ended the matchup with 189 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception while completing 51.5% of his pass attempts. He also recorded 45 yards on the ground off 13 rush attempts.Michigan’s defense was all over John Mateer throughout the game. The Wolverines sacked him on three occasions, with one of them being the game-clinching play. They managed to knock him off his rhythm, as Mateer’s completion percentage on Saturday was well below his career average of 63.7%.Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables called John Mateer’s performance “uneven” after the contest. However, Venables did claim he is still supportive of his quarterback. But the Sooners will need to fix some things to bounce back after losing to the Wolverines. The good news for Oklahoma is that the program has a get-right matchup next on the schedule. The Sooners will take on the New Mexico Lobos in Week 3. However, the team will have to turnaround quickly, as they will face off against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Week 4.Related: Oregon star Dante Moore runs away with NFL Draft QB1 votes over Arch Manning in ESPN pollRelated: Oklahoma State football’s Drew Mestemaker is feeling extra special after knocking off Oregon
