​Ndamukong Suh is not trying to hear it from Jay Williams when it comes to accepting money before the NIL era. Suh is not admitting he accepted money under the table to play at Nebraska since it was against the rules at the time. And when it comes to NIL, the 39-year-old has been outspoken about what it has done to college football. “Has NIL gone too far?” he asked on X/Twitter. “College football players are now making NFL money. The transfer portal has effectively turned into free agency… Athletes are now in a position where, in some cases, it makes more financial sense to stay in college than to go to the NFL.”More on Ndamukong Suh and Jay WillSuh played for Nebraska from 2005 to 2009 and was a dominant defensive lineman. In 2009, Suh was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He was also named the AP College Football Player of the Year in 2009 and was named a First-team AP All-Time All-American in 2025. Williams played for Duke basketball from 1999 to 2002. He helped the Blue Devils win a national title in 2001 and was named the National College Player of the Year. Duke retired Williams’ No. 22 jersey in 2003. Last year, Williams shared his thoughts on how the NIL impacts March Madness. “I think my biggest takeaway of everything over the weekend was that NIL is the death of mid-major Cinderella runs,” Williams said on ESPN’s Get Up (via Awful Announcing). “It still can happen, but I think it’s gonna be more of a rarity?”
